This Privacy Policy describes how the ScalePlate app (the “App”), developed by Denis Trofimov (the “Developer,” “we”), handles your data. In short: the App has no server and no user accounts, and everything you log is stored on your device.

1. Data Collection and Storage

The App does not collect or store any personal data on our servers — we operate no server and no user accounts. Everything you create in the App — diary entries, recipes, and scale settings — is stored exclusively on your device and remains under your full control.

2. Bluetooth

The App connects to a compatible kitchen scale over Bluetooth LE to display weight readings and to send tare and calibration commands. This communication is strictly between your device and the scale. No weighing data is transmitted to us.

3. Camera

The App can use your device’s camera to scan product barcodes. The camera is used only while you are actively scanning within the App. Images are processed on your device to read the barcode and are not stored or transmitted to us.

4. Open Food Facts

To look up packaged products, the App queries the Open Food Facts service. When you scan or enter a barcode, or search for a product, that barcode or search text is sent to Open Food Facts to retrieve the product’s information; the result is cached on your device for offline reuse. These requests are handled by Open Food Facts under their own privacy policy, and the App does not attach your identity to them.

5. Third-Party Analytics and Advertising

The App does not use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, crash-reporting tools, or any other SDKs that collect or transmit data about you.

6. Children’s Data

The App does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this address, and the date of the most recent update is shown at the top of the document.
